Ferdinand/Elefant camo colors

What is the base color of the vehicle? Yellow, but what was the German name for the color? And the green and brown that was together in a soft edge camo? Were these the same colors for the spider web/giraffe designs I want to get some paint ordered if I don’t have the colors.

For a scale effect the color should be a little lighter than the standard color? Correct?

Were the vehicles primed with red primer first oor was the yellow its primer?

For Modelmaster, the color is Dunkelgelb as the base. For Tamiya, it would be Dark Yellow. The Green is Panzergrun or Olivgrun with Modelmaster and the Red/browin is Schokoladenbraun with MM and Red-brown with Tamiya. With the brown, I usually mix rust in with MM and Hull Red with Tamiya to give it a reddish tint. Striaght out of the bottle, it is very brown. As for the scale effect, it seems to be a matter of preference. Some people here do it and some don’t. Personally, I spray mine straight out of the bottle for a base and then will spray some patchy lightened areas to show uneven wear. I finish it of by misting Tamiya buff to tone down all the colors- a very light misting. This might be helpful

I don’t prime. If you want to show chipped areas then maybe you can paint some primer with metal. Seems most go with a dirty reddish grey look to simulate chips, or something to that effect. From some arguments of late, it seems that overdone weathering is not the norm, at least from our modern tankers whom contribute. Could be that is the way it is in todays military.
