Fed Ex Shipping Scam Warning

A while back I placed an order from Squadron and used their Fed Ex shipping option. A day or two later I received an email claiming to be from Fed Ex explaining that there was a delivery problem with the purchase. I found this a bit odd since I have been a long time Squadron member and checking the delivery status on the Fed Ex site which showed the package to be delivered in a couple of days.

I did not open any attachments and quickly contacted both Fed Ex and Squadron. Either one had no idea why such an email was sent since all my info was up to date and the package was enroute to me, arriving safe and sound a couple of days later. I forwarded the email to the Fed Ex Security Section for investigation but did not hear any thing else from them…

I recently placed another order with Squadron and the same email is back. Very interesting how someone knows I placed an order, so I’m smelling a rat either on the squadron side or more than likely the Fed Ex side. This is a typical scam where you are asked for credit card info and such. Just passing it on.

Thanks for the warning! I recently placed an order with SprueBrothers with FedEx delivery, and had no such phony e-mail. Their tracking says it is on the truck for delivery today.

You did the right thing. It’s a good idea to send an e-mail direct to the horses’ mouths to verify anything that looks fishy. Never click on a link in a suspicious e-mail.

No sweat. Some unsuspecting people just click on the links and spill all their private info without giving it a second thought.

I remember years ago I got a card in the mail saying I won a huge screen TV and to call the 800 number on the card to claim it. I did and the woman on the other end wanted me to give her a credit card number to prove my identity. What a freaking ultramaroon she was, thinking I would fall for that BS. I contacted the Attorney General’s Office and reported it.

you need to run your antivirus and also a malware detector. you might have got something on your PC

can’t be too safe where the old cards and wallet are concerned

I agree with Snapdragon. It sounds like you might have some malware on your computer, plasticjunkie. The best software I know for catching that stuff is at www.malwarebytes.com. You can even download a trial copy for free.

I have malwarebytes and Eset anti virus on my computer.

Did a complete check of my system with 0 infected files. Interesting as I purchased from Mega Hobby, and Ebay and nothing came back on those, just Squadron. I will have my computer guy check it out anyway just to make certain things are ok. Thanks for the advice guys.

I have received E-mails in the past saying I have won a million dollars and they need my info plus they need $800 to release the funds.

Every Time I get that E-mail, I shoot one back giving them authoration to take the $800, and send me the rest. I don’t give them any bank info. I do however give them my mailing address so they know where to send the check LMAO

Strange, I never hear back from them. I don’t know why < this is being said with extremely heavy sarcasm LOL[:D]

My guess, PJ, is coincidence.

I get phishing emails re various shipping methods (UPS, Fed Ex, etc) claiming a problem with shipment quite regularly. Junk mail filter usually snags them. But once in a while one sneaks through, and I’ve had a happen once or twice where the timing happened to be that I actually did have something on order being shipped by the referenced carrier.

Terribly annoying and can be mind-bending. The crooks count on that, I think.
