The only comfortable flights I have ever flown on were with Auntie Betty’s flying club (RAF)
I have flown to the middle east and to central america by herc (5K cargo net hammock in my green maggot), by Tristar and VC10 to Ascension,Germany and Cyprus ( great leg room).
The only civvy airliners that I have flown on with decent seats were BA tridents and AB Airlines BAC111’s (ex BA ).
My current employers Fokker100s have leather upholstry but they suck for comfort.
My previous employers 737’s were very tastefully upholstered in black leather, but also sucked comfort wise - and were not built for people with shoulders.
Some of our american clients actually had to but 2 seats, their huge derrieres couldnt fit in the seats! They were very small seats, though.
A hint for anyone with large shoulders - if flying in a narrowbody aircraft - especially a Fokker 100 - DO NOT ASK FOR A WINDOW SEAT as you will not fit !
Concorde. I had the chance of flying about 25 mins in the bird, following a radio competition.
I really like the look of the Tu-144 too.
I’ve also enjoyed my flights in the A310, A320, Embraer 145 and MD-83
L1011 an Connie I think are the bomb
For reliabity, safety and a smooth flight I have to say the 747.
Who could argue about the longevity of the DC-3 and the esthetic value of the advanced wing design that she had.
My favorite has to be the 777. I flew from central Texas to Kuwait in one, with only one stop for gas in Milan, Italy. It was comfortable, & the in-flight entertainment was top notch. Having your own little LCD screen was great, & on one channel, you could actually see your progress to your destination in varying scales. On the hop back, it was an L-1011, which we made three stops for gas (Cypress, Shannon, & Bangor).
My first flight was also in an American Airlines 707 back in the very late 60’s. Made several trips on those, including some trips on Pan Am.

I flew the Tri-Star, 727,DC-9,MD-80,757 and 767 for TWA. I think the 757 and 767-300 are the best flying modern airplanes, as far as my experience. The 1011 is of course the best flying airplane ever, even better than a Staggerwing Beech. Best looking airliner, Convair 880. The same size as a DC-9 and four engines (J-79’s without afterburner)! The Glencoe/Hawk 880 kit is really cool, and of course the TWA decals are right up my alley!

Spruceloose:
I remember visiting Darwin during a port visit in 2001. We did some training at the RAAF Base there. My favorite place to eat was at Hog’s Breath Saloon and then going for a pint over at Rouke’s Drift.
Cheers Mate!
I am airplane mechanic. I am working on the Bombardier CJR-200, (50 seats). It looks great an it’s quiet when he took off compared to the B-737-100/200 or DC-9/MD-80.
I see them with factory fresh painted Wow! they are nice!
But I am 6.2 foot tall so I don’t like it as a passenger…[soapbox]
Airbus A-320 was the airplane I prefer as a passenger. I flew in 1992 in a brand new airplane from Air Canada. I had the chance to visit the cockpit in flight(And the Flight attendants looks pretty [;)]
