I dont know if you guys caught the thread ‘are most modelers specialists,’ but if you are like me you specialize in something (ie WWII, Vietnam aircraft, etc). There is one plane I keep wanting to rebuild, and it’s the f-4 phantom. Just curious what everyones favorite aircraft is.

I don’t have too many planes built, but if I had to pick one as my favorite, I’d have to say the P-38. There’s just something about it that really draws me to it.
A close second are the P-51’s with Allison engines. Less common than the D’s and even sexier.
Honorable mention goes to the P-61. It’s big and nasty. 4 .50 cals alone is nothing to laugh at, but 4 20mm? now you’re talking!!!
well lets see P 40, P 38, P 51, P 47, P 39, P 61, F4U, a guess that will do it for now.

For me it’s a tie between the F-4 Phantom and the F-14 Tomcat. The F-18 Hornet comes in second and third is the F-15 and the F-16.

I am especially partial to the flying boats and amphibians of the 1930 - 1960’s era, e.g. the Grumman “waterfowl” family, Sikorsky S-38, PBY, etc.

My all time favorite aircraft is the SR-71, but I have built more models of the F-4 Phantom and F-105 Thud. My “stash” contains 35 Blackbirds (29 SR-71 and 6 YF-12A), 26 F-4 Phantoms and 25 F-105 Thuds. “Too many kits, not enough time”

I can’t even begin to narrow it down to one or a couple. I like too many! But, having grown up in the shadow of Grissom AFB, the A-10 holds a special place in my heart.

I’m on a really big Bf109 kick as I have either in progress or waiting to be built:

I’m also really growing to love the P-38 Lightning. I’m currently building a P-38F but hope to build all the major models (E, H, J, L and a recon bird).

For the different era’s are different planes
WW2 has to be the B6N’s and P-40’s
Jets have to be F-4, A-10 and A-7’s
I love the german WWI fighters…hard to pick a fav from amongst the lot. From WWII it’s the 262, the 109 series, the P-47 and the Il-2. I also like the early MiGs, up to the “-21”.
Thats easy, anything with a round engine.[:D]
My favorite is P40, SBD, Devastator, B17. as for modern fighter, will always be the F 14s. I love the world war 2 fighter than modern fighter.
109 family (hence the name), F-4s. F-14’s and the big bombers of WW2 are starting to have some influence.
As an ex-F-16 Crew Chief (MacDill and Torrejon) I’d have to answer… The F-4 Phantom.

I believe you can never have enough Mustangs, Spitfires or Kittyhawks/Tomahawks.
Still, if I had to pick just one, going by the number of Spitfires in my stash and built (8 and 2) versus Mustangs (1 and 2) versus P-40’s (0 and 2), I guess the Spitfire would have to be it.
I doubt just one will satisfy this group [:D] So here are a few for y’all
