Father in-law

OK here is a photo of my Father in-law. He was a Pilot in WW2.

He flew a B-25, and Flew the Hump, and other palnes too. And some in the family said he was in the Flying Tigers, but I don’t know about that.

Here are some photo’s that I found from him. I don’t know if he flew them or not, just wanted to post them because they looked cool.

I think one of the photos said WW1 but is was hard to read.

Have a GREAT day all

Bud

Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing…

Andy

Bud, that’s some really good stuff. I get chills looking at old pictures like that. I hope you’re able to research more detail on the planes he flew…maybe your wife will even let you splurge on a new AM B-25 with PE, resin…all the works?

Thanks for sharing.

That is COOL! I love the pic of the P-26. Those were some great looking little planes.

I’ll tell you, I have NO IDEA what planes are what and I know, that’s BAD

Bud

Well Bud theres a couple look like trainers and the last one is a DC-3 also known as a goonie bird.

Thanks for the pics, Bud

Thad

The single wing monoplane in front of the hangar is the P-26. They were the first single wing fighters the USAAC used, I think. Neat looking little fireplug of an airplane.

DC-2

Here is a photo that my Father took. It’s not a plane but it’s cool…

Thanks for all the reply’s to this post.

Bud

The amphib is a Loening Air Yacht C2. There is a lot of this plane in the Grumman Duck. Boeing F4B frontal shot (I think, could be a P-12) Boeing P-12’s too. And a Jenny.

This is the P-26 and if I’m not mistaken, the bi-plane beyond it is the F3F?

Thanks for posting these Bud!![tup] It wouldn’t be too hard to track down his service records…

EDIT***

Now you mentioned he had flown the Hump… Well, here is something on that…

http://www.tamu.edu/upress/BOOKS/1994/spencer.htm

Also here’s something else that’s especially informative… Has names of the Pilots who Flew the Hump

http://www.palletmastersworkshop.com/hump.html

The planes behind the P26 look like they are two-seaters. I am not very good with bi-planes though…pretty much only know a little about the F3F. Did the F3F come in a two-seat model?

Jerry

I’m not sure. I’ll have to look into that tho. It does look like a Flying Barrel but, I could be mistaken too.

I looked at that link you posted Ed and I did not see my Father in-laws name on it. Now my wife says they have Doc’s saying that he did fly the Hump. Hmmmmmmmm

Bud

That’s cool Bud. I think a tribute build may be in your near future. A token of rememberance to the missis. [:D] and a dang good reason to buy a NEW KIT!!! [yeah][:-,]

To bad he didn’t fly a Corsair [:-^]

I did get my son a model of a B-25 about a year or so ago, but he did not start on it yet.

Bud

Bud, shoot me an email with his name & dates of Service & I’ll see what I can find out for ya

I will thanks Ed

Bud

Yeah, great pics! Not sure about the F3F also, but F3F-1 has 2 seat versions for training. As for flying the AVG, i have several references that list all the pilots that flew for the original AVG and the US army aircorp that replaced the AVG - and took on the Flying Tiger moniker. Send me the name and I’ll try to look that up too.
