Hi,now,my post is ,I think a fair one. how, why , where , and when did the VASA come out? I have NEVER seen this kit anywhere in the HILL COUNTRY of TEXAS. Is it worth persuing or just another dissappointment like their smaller scale CUTTY SARK ?
I would really like to know.By the way, I have most of HELLERS sailing ships and really like the way they finish out with a little tweaking. That,s a subject for another thread. thanks for any input----TANKER-builder

I’m not sure if you’re asking about the Revell Vasa? You mention Heller specifically, and I know they released a Vasa, though I think it was a re-box (?) from the Airfix kit. I can’t testify to the quality of that kit, since I haven’t built it, but I did put together a Revell 1:150 Vasa, and I really liked it. It’s a new release, and the parts were all very crisp and had much detail. I didn’t have any difficulty with the assembly…
I guess as with any other kit, it really depends on your experiences and preferences.

I built it more or less out of the box, except that I ran my own thread shrouds, and made furled sails for it.
Both the Airfix/Heller and the Revell Wasa kits are nice models. The Airfix/Heller kit is somewhat dated and uses several old features such as the dummy cannons being cemented in little holes in the solid gunports, and all of the weather decks are simply one piece molded into the different levels. They are both of slightly different scales, the Airfix/Heller being 1/144 and the Revell being 1/150.

That is one fine looking model ship ! I have to give you a very big WELL DONE ! I have built plastic sailing ships for years for myself(to get away from what my clients want) and I will have to have that one.
