Was it factory procedure to spaint the spare tire on the FAMO the same color as the rest of the vehicle? For example if the halftrack was painted Panzer Grey was the spare grey also or were they added after the paint job was done. Thanks
No idea. I wouldn’t say it would be incorrect to have the wheel of the spare a different color than the vehicle though. It could have been replaced later or come from another vehicle, etc. We have different colored spares and wheels on the same vehicles in the modern US Army. I’m sure the German Army of WWII did as well.

The rims of should be the same color as the vehicle. The tires should be black. The would not have been on in the factory during paint time.
Not totally an absolute truth. See my post above. Maybe on restored vehicles all are the same color and pretty. In wartime use, you don’t worry whether the rims are all the same color.
OK that answers my question. I wanted to know whether or not the rubber tires would just have been over painted with no regard for masking.
the painting of the famos, tanks etc… was in field, and the paint must to be applied to all the vehicle incluiding the auxiliar tire
painting was in maintenance, resting time, redeplying action, as the mean target is camouflage the paint must be complete because if its not this way is like to say to the enemy: HEY SHOOT ME HERE ( different color area )¡¡¡
Still diagree with you. In combat, you don’t worry about paint colors matching. When you have time for maintenance, you focus on what needs to be fixed, not matching colors. Actually, the different colored wheel would still be a form of camo to break up the outline of the vehicle. It is not a big “Shoot Here” sign. By the way, I am talking from personal experience in peacetime and combat.
the painting operation was in steps…not all the division the same day.
the tanks dont was all the 365 days fighting they need maintenance and there was the operation of painting so all the tank is painted incluiding the auxiliary tire
but if the auxiliary tire was missing and they are in fighting , they change for other of any color availible
