Fairey Swordfish

Can somebody tell me the best way to paint this aircraft? Should i put it all together then paint it or what? I would like to put a camo scheme on it . by the way it is the floatplane version

It is far easier to paint the aircraft before you add the top wing & floats. It is also a good idea to apply your glosscoat, decals, and final coat before you bring everything together. If the struts are a different color, paint them before you attach them. It is nearly impossible to get your airbrush around the struts to the wing surfaces in between if you assemble it first.

Hope this helps.

so i should put the bottom wing on then paint it. then add the top wing. I have never done this type of aircraft and i’m a little over whelmed

Yes, I would suggest attaching the lower wing. Just leave off the top wing, floats, and wing struts and paint, glosscoat, decal, and apply your final finish before you join the top wing & floats.

Goodluck. Its a great kit, I’ve started, but haven’t finished, mine yet.

I can speak from a bad experience… the the fuselage and lower wing should be painted, glosscoated, and decaled before adding the upper wing. I wish I had asked the question about a month ago. I painted, but left the decals for later - definitely a mistake on the 1/72 version

Thanks Guys
