Faded OD look on bombers?

Instead of the straight out of the bottle OD paint color for a B-24 or B-17, what colors would be mixed to get that faded OD look on bombers?

My method is to ‘prime’ with aluminum, mix in a drop or two of either flat white or flat yellow, thin to proper consistancy for spraying…but apply it very thinly. Once you get a light coverage stop. Let the paint cure and then take a fresh look at it. If is is too thin apply more. Paint not only fades but abraids from friction. You can do the same with painted on markings as well.
