"Factory Ruins" patterns finished.

First off, thanks to all that responded to our first ad in FSM! Thanks much, I appreciate the support & I’m glad to see you guys like our new line of dio kits.

I just finished the master patterns for my latest 1/35 kit. DP5, Factory Ruins. I did a test casting & everything fits great. Also included with this kit will be laser cut wood windows and laser cut “shattered glass”. I should have this one ready to ship in a few weeks.

As always, let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Cheers!

That looks impressive! May I ask how you make these?

Thanks much! Basically it involves hand carving and fabricating a master pattern, then making a rubber mold of the pattern, then casting the parts using hydrocal plaster/

What’s your source for RTV rubber, if I can ask? I’m having a helluva time trying to get the stuff on-line…

that looks cool. I’ll have to get one when imake a dio soon. [tup]

I get the RTV from a local supplier that can get Dow Corning products. I use 3110.

OMG. That is SO cheating!

…like cobbler elves.

I want one though.

Thanks for the links… I got some coming now… I bought some silicon mold-making stuff at Hobby Lobby since I was in a pinch, but I had to build it up in layers no thicker than 1/8th inch at a time, letting each layer dry before pouring the next one… Took a week to pour one-sided mold for a couple of rucksacks I had… Might as well have used bathtub caulk… Clay and plaster, along with Bondo body filler worked well for one-sided molds with now real undercuts, but I really needed a good two-part RTV… Again, Thanks.
