FAC A/C

I’m building a FAC trio (0-1, Bird Dog, 02- Sky Master and OV-10, Bronco) and I have a problem![banghead]

I haven’t seen any ‘build’ info on the Testors ‘Bronco’ and it seems to be the only kit out there!

Has anyone built this kit? If so, I’d like any comments/suggestions on how to build a better model of this a/c.

HELP![8]

It’s a typical kit of its era, try searching on Fire Fighting aircraft, I know there are a few builds using the kit for that purpose.

Have a look:

Hope it can help you.

Alfredo.

Thanks for the ‘build’ tips on the different builds.[bow]

Now I can complete my ‘FAC’ portion of ‘To Build’![:D]

I noticed that Paragon Designs replacement parts are $60-70! For a $10 kit, that seems excessive!

I’ve built this kit twice. My second effort was much better since I had learned the art of airbrushing and filling seams. Yes, there are no wheel wells in this thing, and the cockpit is almost nonexistant, but I still believe it builds up into a very nice aircraft. Nose weight is the major problem. I had to add 6 fishing weights behind the cockpit seat to get the thing to sit on its landing gear! There is absolutely nowhere else to put that weight, so the model looks somewhat odd with all that lead in the cockpit. Also, assembling the canopy is kinda’ tricky.

By the way, that fortunecity review has the paint scheme all wrong. These aircraft were painted in the Euro 1 camo scheme. I’d replace the FS36118 called for in the instructions with FS36081, however. I didn’t, and I somewhat regret it, but I’m not going to build this plane a third time!!

Oh! A second tip…I had to sand down the rivets on the tail. The decals would not lay down well over those rivets, even with Micro Sol.

Try Solvaset next time, it’s stronger. It usually solves my stubborn decal problems [;)]
