Being at the end of a plank with the point of a cutlass at my throat…
Am I to understand within 24 hours (EST) I will be obliged to imbibe quantities of spirits and be subjected to the usual rumor, innuendo, kudos, insults, apologies, laugh lines and occasional modelling help that appears amidst these pages…of the Flagon-filled Arms of Armegeddon…the dreaded FAA???
I found last night and into the wee hours that G&T causes me to become obsessed with reading every forum post that held even the slightest flicker of interest to me!
Oooooh…my head! I have not had a morning headache in years. Even after 7 or 8 (or 9) cocktails.
Nam my lad, you are new to Royal Navy protocol so we will be gentle with you…
“NOW HEAR THIS!” “WAKEY! WAKEY!”
Right lad! Get out of your bunk and sort yourself out-you need to find yoursellf a model kit and get to your workbench before three bells-or you’ll be kissing the gunners daughter! (Not nice on an Invincible class carrier!!!)
Now get a nice English breakfast down your neck…[dinner][oX)]
“What’ll we do with a drunken sailor,
What’ll we do with a drunken sailor,
What’ll we do with a drunken sailor,
Earl-aye in the morning?”
In Nelson’s day, if you were found guilty of breaking the kings regulations on a Royal Navy vessel, you were stripped to the waist and placed over a cannon. Here you would recieve a number of lashes depending on severity of the offence commited. Hence “Kissing the gunners daughter”
This is the equivalent weapon on a modern RN carrier. Its callled “Goalkeeper” and it can knock a Flanker out of the sky without any trouble.[:-,]
Well Gents…and Ladies…, I have spent copious amounts of money online in order to bring myself, at least to the point (equipment-wise) I was at (pardon grammar) when I left the hobby 20 years ago.
Now…when the kit(s) get here…we shall see.
Cocktail time now…wallet’s empty…c’mere lass…yes, that’s it…yer the one from the earlier posts…[oX)]
Count me in! I am about 75-80% finished with a mainly Airfix and Revell 1/72 Swordfish. I know it’s supposed to have a hard line camo pattern but was anxious to use my airbrush after being away from the hobby for so long. My last completed plastic model was when I was on Guam in 89-90. I got the Airwaves(Hannants) PE kit for it as well, after I had already started.[sigh].
Have the LG legs on now and need to dull and proceed further. More pics when I get a round tuit.
OMG Simpilot!..this post shouldn’t have been here, I may have to delete it now. The build you are looking for is the Navy Fleet Air Wing GB…which previously was the Fleet Air Arm GB. Check that one out please! (Nice building though!)
I started this post because a pal was leaving…and sadly, still hasn’t returned. Not sure if the guy has problems or has been redeployed overseas.[%-)]
