F7U Cutlass, by HobbyCraft

Hello, I found an old kit, 1/48 scale, and found out right away that it is not a very good kit. i am trying to build it any way, but have run into a problem. The Cockpit unit does not have directions on where it should be placed. Even worse, the instrumentation, which is a part of the kit, fills up the windscreen, and I cant see how a pilot could see thru it, given where the seat has to be placed. Im hesitant to cut the piece and I do not have any literature to help me. Any suggestions

Thanks bob

Try these

It would appear that forward visibility is beyond atrocious.

Thanks for the pictures.

The pilot needs a periscope like the one Lindberg had in the Spirit of St. Louis. With the nose high attitude, on either take off or landing, forward visibility is horrible. Given the very narrow “window” that the pilot has on a carrier landing this airplane would have a “pucker factor” in the 1000% range.

Know what you mean. Received a HobbyCraft CF-105 Avro Arrow (1:72) as a Christmas gift. I opened the kit to see what the instructions were like. I noticed that there is no, that’s right, no paint schemes for the interior cockpit, instrument panels nor the pilots, etc. Seems that the kits are sparse when it comes to painting details. Oh wells makes for some research and fly by the seat of one’s pants for colours.

Fortunately, I am doing a DH Mosquito and from painting the pilots, I have some idea as to colours to use.
