Well, I got my F6F-5 Hellcat far enough long to make it worthwhile to take a couple of pictures. The first two are of the fairly simple cockpit. I added the seatbelts and picked out a few details with paint.
This is the R-2800 Pratt & Whitney that makes the ceiling fan go 'round & 'round. I added the spark plug wires, magnetos and push rod tubes. I only did that to the front bank of cylinders because once inside the cowl, you can’t see the back row anyway. This little beast is less than 1/2 inch in diameter.
Love the job you did on the engine. I think I just painted mine silver and gave it a quick wash. Once the prop is on, it’s almost impossible to see.
Remember, this bird is sea blue and gold - the colors of the Navy [H].
Have you decided how you’re going to do the lettering? For the side markings, I went with woodland scenics dry transfers. They’re not perfect (couldn’t find 45 degree USA Gothic, in gold), but they’re pretty good. But for the underwing, because of the size, I had to create a template and then spray testors’ gold enamel.

I have a set of markings for the F6 in gold and another in yellow. Some references that I have found say it was blue and yellow while others say it was blue and gold. I am not positive as to which is correct. I know that from the F8 Bearcat on up to the F/A-18 it was blue and yellow. Do you have a confirmed source for the blue & gold?
