Just working on this 1/48 F4U-5, got the model all primed up and masked. It’s looking good, pretty smooth finish.

Start on the underside first, seems like a good policy…

And heres the result on the underside, almost perfect (if I may say so) Right now I’m feeling like a skilled airbrush vet. Been using the thing for years (professionally as well) so it’s expected.

So I mix up a new batch of paint, flip the model over and get to it. At this point murphy’s law kicks in. The top of the models is…not so great. I suspect I had my paint too thick, not by much, but enough to cause this. Pity, it surprised me the quality for a Revell kit, far above what I expected and it would have been a nice reproduction of the Corsair. Hopefully I can avoid a repeat.

When this has happened to me in the past I use 12000 grit MicroMesh to wet sand the finish. I think you’ll find it gets rid of that orange peel and lets you spray another coat over the top to touch it up.
[#ditto]. A light sanding to eliminate the orange peel, clean & re-spray. The model should be salvaged without fully stripping the paint.

Ok thanks.
Good luck hope you can save it.
[#ditto] a few months ago I have a similar problem with a corsair too!!! I polish it using muuuch patience and tooth paste.
best regards and happy new year!!!
