…Just finishing up Tamiya’s 1/48 Corsair flying the Jolly Rogers colors…Depicting CDR Tommy Blackburn’s bird on Ondonga, 1943. Had the Just Plane Stuff flight deck lying around, so I figured I’d use it; the chips, nicks, and dents are from the island, I know there aren’t rocks on the flight deck after FOD walkdown; use your imaginations and enjoy!! Still need to add a touch of weathering, and the ID/landing lights…needed a break and took some pics, so here it is so far. And, this is the first figure I’ve painted in about 30 years, so don’t bust a stitch laughing at his screwy eyeballs…!!Stay Tuned, baby…
Hey jkelley,
Very nicley done my friend. What ratio of paint to thinner did you use?? Or did you just wing it?
I like the way your wash/weathering turned out!! Again great job.
Flaps up, Mike
I busted a stitch! Just kidding guy, this looks great. Your man looks way better than one of the more recent tank commanders I did. I like having figures in with my models I just ain’t very good at painting them. Nice work!
looks great!Great background too.
the pilot looks well done too ,maybe just a little too much caffine in the morning.
I especially like the subtle weathering that can be seen in the
third picture.
What a beautiful model! And great photography. Excellent[bow] The figure, on the other hand, looks like he might be better off standing on the wing of a Zero[:D] Great build!
Great job! The pilot is actually “sea sick” and about to “toss his cookies”. Been there done that! Thanks for sharing your work! Good photography as well.
I didn’t realize you could thin MM acryl that much. I tend to thin 1/4. Did you use their thinner, Tamiya’s, or something else altogether?
Did the initial coat provide good coverage?
