F4U-1 gurus....

Working on this one, Tamiya 1/48th Birdcage.
Camo is tri color. Doing some research leads to me believe that the wheel bays were most likely salmon, the cowling interior flat light gray, the gear legs aluminum dope, and the gear door interiors light gray.

The cockpit is already interior green and that’s not changing even though I’ve now read black or dark bronze green.

What says the masses on these color choices?

most bird cages were painted intermediate blue overall , interiors were anybodys guess depending on the line that was building them (brewster, goodyear, vought) and the availability of the paint specified, early models usually were bronze green or interior green on the wheel wells, cockpit & cowling on later models wheel wells matched the belly color or the overall color (wheels and gear included) hope this helps

Here’s the way I did mine, except paint the gear silver as you planned it, I figured that out when I was done[:$]

I remember having a little trouble with the fit of the spars in the wheel wells which can cause a misaligned wing fit if not dealt with. Most everything else was just fun. I wish I could have gotten a crisper paint finish in the cockpit.
