Hey guys;
Was having a bad day last week and dropped the canopy for my Wildcat three times! The last time being the charm. It broke into two symmetrical pieces in a nice straight line down the middle. I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on how to fix it while still looking presentable? I’d really rather not buy another one. Would Future work as a glue in this case?
Thanks;
Steve
Future would probably work as an adhesive, but there’s really no way of getting rid of the seam completely. If you sand with succesively finer sand paper, it might fix it up a bit. Start with a 1000 grade sand paper and finish with the finest grade you can find. Give it a polish, and give it a coat of future to hide scratches and restore clarity.
Otherwise, if you’re not to concerned with accuracy, you could paint a frame line to hide the scratch. This isn’t the best option, but it will probably look neater than having a crack down the middle of the canopy.
Here’s my suggestion: buy a vacform one from squadron. They look better than injection molded ones anyway. And they are cheap (only a few dollars here in Oz).
hope this helps.
What scale and what kit? I’ve got several in my spares box.

What are the possibilities of you cutting that section of glass free and replacing it with a thin sheet of perspex ? Otherwise I’d go down the aftermarket route as pingtang suggested.

Tamiya 1/48 Wildcat. What did you have in mind?

Skii;
What is perspex? Never heard of that one.
