F4F-4 Grumman Wildcat...(pics)

This one is a Tamiya model which was quite a good build. It was OOB except for the antenna wires and seatbelts. I used MM enamels for painting and of course finished it off with some Future and a bit of dullcoat. I have another by Sword that will take a bit more carving to get right but that never stopped me before. The decals on top of wings are a bit too far inward but I think it’s close enough for a half blind old cod.

She shure looks good hope i can still do that good when i get older, might have to wear to pairs of bifocals[;)] I like the way it turned out vary nice work.

That’s a mighty fine looking Cat!!![tup][:D]

You’re right, those decals are too far inward. Way to ruin it[}:)]
Nah just kidding. I think this built is AWESOME! I really like the “grime” you added (for lack of a better word). Makes it look like it has indeed flown off a carrier deck. Just one tip. When you painted the canopy, did you lay a coat of the interior color down first? If you do that, it’s a bit more realistic. Now if you did this and I missed it, who’s the half blind old cod now? [X-)][#oops]

Looks great! That kit is one of the most fun I have built. What did you use for your antenna wire? Nice job overall I must say!

Looks very nice, that sure is a sweet kit.

Thanks for the compliments from all…tho9900, the antenna wire is some very thin thread that my wife got for me at a clothing store. It attaches really well and easy to paint if you want it black, silver or other colors. Somtimes I dont paint it at all as I looks good as is.

From one half blind old cod to another… Great build [tup].
