F4ej painted and decaled

This is the Hasegawa 1/48 F4EJ I started rebuilding a couple of weeks back.
I disassembled it stripped the paint, reassembled it painted and decaled.

Hiya mkhoot,
I like the original paint scheme much better…LOL[:p][;)] Seriously, for stripping down and repainting, she sure did turn out quiet well…!!!
You picked a great scheme to boot… While rebuilding, did you have to redo the interior, seams and the like??
Thanks for sharing.

great paint job mate ,

nice paint job ! by the way, what is the red stripe around the back near the engine nozzles ? the tomcat has it too, im wondering what its for.

Nice make over!!!

Nice job Mark. Tisn’t easy redoing a finished model, but you did it very well. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

Thank guys I like redoing an older build every now and then. Mike yeah I redid the cockpit I’m putting in Verlinden seat and I refilled seems and re sanded everything.

Nice job on the repaint of the Phantom. What did you use to remove the old paint?
Darwin [alien]

The stripe is a warning of danger. The engine turbine wheel is located in that area and turbines have been known to come un glued from time to time. When it fails, it throws turbine blades out, which causes an un balance, resulting in throwing more blades out. I was standing close to an aircraft that threw a blade. The aircraft started shaking, throwing out more blades before the pilot could cut the engine off. It looked like a buzz saw went around the fuselage. Several blades also penetrated the fuel cell above causing a fire.

wonderful job but…were your bored or something?!! not enough in the modelling budget to buy another kit? just teasing mhoot!! thats a hoot!!! later.

Darwin I used Castrol super cleaner degreaser on the smaller parts including the canopy it will remove the paint without hurting the plastic. I used Easy off oven cleaner to strip the larger parts. I have over 600 unbuilt kits on the shelves waiting to be built but every once in a while I like to rebuild an older build. Bring it up to current standards.

not a thang wrong with that my friend. very creative indeed. later.

Well, as a mad JASDF head myself… I am partial to the old paint scheme, as I love the Okinawa birds… But the new job looks great!.. You’ve done a great job on her!
