F2G Corsair conversion

Hey there good modeling people! Been a while since i posted and was wondering if anyone has any idea what color the landing gear were on F2G Corsairs. I’ll admit i haven’t decided on a scheme yet but all the reference pictures I’m finding are black & white pictures so I can’t tell. I’ve read that production Corsairs could be anything from light gray or aluminum to the color the belly was painted. anyone want to chime in?

Maybe this will help.

I have a color photo-essay on the aircraft in the photo (#454), basically a “walk around” before Squadron started doing them, showing this bird w/ landing gear & wheel wells painted dark sea blue to match the rest of the aircraft. With that said, I also have some vintage photos of F2G’s w/ aluminum/silver struts & wheels, & wheel wells in zinc chromate or interior green. The aircraft in the photo also has the late production (F4U-7) cast wheels, while most of the vintage photos I have show the early 3 piece spoked wheels. Either way would be correct, just find reference photos (if possible) for the BuAir# you want to build.

Not sure what happend here. I tried to post pictures of Bob Odegaard’s (rest in peace) race 74 and 57 but apparently the post didn’t save. Anyway, both have white main gear, tail wheel and wheel hubs. I wish I would have taken more picture of 74 at Airventure this year. Little did we now it would be the last time we would see it and Bob perform. [:'(]
