SHOOT, come on!!! 14 all day long!! remember the movie “The Final Countdown”…
Each design has merits that make the airframe pleasing to the eye in my opinion. What surprised me is how small they appear when you get up next to them! I guess I would prefer the Super Bug just for it’s sports car appearance, the Tomcat for it’s swing wing design. At this point, I have 2 Revell\Monogram F-14s and no F-18s in my stash. Both F-14s were acquired by, “Hey, Lon does models, give them to him!”
This discussion alone is actually making me want to expediate my acquisition and build of an F-14 
My initial response would be any fighter with a tailhook…
That being said, I favor the F-14 over the Super Hornet (but will always have a soft spot for the F-4).

WOW !!! I guess this topic really stirred up the “Hornet’s Nest”… in a manner of speaking. I did forget to mention one cool experience that I had during my Navy time. During the mid to late 70’s our Boat was playing the routine War Games in the Virginia Capes Op area, just off the coast of Va.Beach and the Outer Banks. We came to Periscope depth and I saw one of the Bird Farms doing Night Flight Ops with the F-14’s. They were doing touch and go’s and it is one IMPRESIVE SIGHT to see the Afterburners all lit up against the pitch black night sky. I’ll never forget that one. Good luck on the F-14 build. Bob.
Keep em coming guys. We got a good discussion going on here and so far the F14 is way ahead. Also dont consider which one you would prefer to build if you could only choose one(even though I and most others would prefer the Tomcat) but just which one you think is cooler.
humper491 I knew I wasnt the only that remembered The Final Countdown with Martin Sheen. I stated that too earlier in the thread when I saw all the Top Gun comments. Sorry Tom Cruise but sheen got you beat by 6 years. At that time the F14 was still fairly new.
The F-14 looks really nice. A typical loadout for the F-14 was two AIM-9, two AIM-7, and two AIM-54.
D-ck Ch-n-y has a thing with Grumman. When Israel was strong armed into canceling the Lavi light attack aircraft and buying more F-16C than originally planned, the Israelis canceled several contracts with American defense contractors for components. Grumman had been contracted to build part of the airframe. Anyway Grumman and a few other contractors sued the department of defense. Last I kept up with the case was in 2002.
Thank you seasick. I knew someone else out there knew that that was the real issue going on and not just some conspiracy theory. I honestly think that the F14 would have finished its intended career in what was it supposed to be, 2010? Not cut down by D*ckhead Cheney ealry.
