Any of you guys interested in doing a f14 and f4 group build? Any and all variations are welcome. I will be contributing a 1/32 Trumpeter F14D done up as the VF-2 Bounty Hunters. This is my first group build that im organizing so please bear with me. I dont even know if im posting in the right place or if this is even how you go about a group build. The time frame is not set yet but lets say it starts now and will 2 months from today. Hope I get some takers.
Ok I just saw the group build section. So ima post this over there. If interested please post on this thread in the group build section and not here as im going to end this thread. And like I said all variations are welcome and in any stage of completion. Ive also decided to run it from now until December 31st 2013. So get those Tomcats and Phantoms posted.
Sign me up I have a Promodeler F-4E and a F-14D in 1/48 or maybe I could break out the Tamiya F-14A 1994 version. when does it start and when does it end. [8-)] Just reread the post if it is only 2 months then it will be one of the 1/48th ones.
Hey there Reaper. My Butcher Bird build was my first and (given the fact that there will be some who disagree) I think its a good idea to post the feeler here in aircraft. It gets maximum visibility because here are folks who don’t really venture into the GB area unless they are in one. If I were doing an automotive GB I would start the feeler in the automotive section first. First off get your rules and start/end dates together and let the feeler stay out there for a little bit and see how many people are interested. This is a good subject so I can see where there would be people who are interested. When you have the number of participants that are interested in a GB that you are comfortable with then announce that you are going to start a GB thread in the Group Build section and away you go. I’m sure there a couple of details I forgot to mention here but that’s the jist of it. Secondly, just roll with it and have fun, Joe
Ashide from what Mustang says, it also helps if there is some sort of theme. For the ones you have chosen, there doesn’t, aside from its a couple of kits you have in the stash.
If you are going with certain aircraft types, stick with one. The 190 GB is a great example. If not, have some sort of link, like aircraft that took part in a certain campaign for example.
Also, have a look at what other GB’s are currently running. Ask yourself if the people who are likely to take part in your GB already committed to others. Given your short time frame and the number of aircraft GB currently running, especially the Vietnam and Carrier builds, you could struggle to get commitment.
Wayyy too many GB going on right now. I would suggest a start date of next March or something. You can still leave this thread up as a feeler cause it takes time for a good GB to materilaize. Also, like Bish said, you need to narrow down the theme.
I will start the GB right now and end it march 1st in light of the amount of GB stuff going on right now. Im doing both the F14 and F4 because both were revolutionary and very well rounded and received planes. And seeing as how the 14 replaced the 4 it only seems right to feature both, just to illustrate the transition. As far as a theme goes, we will say it a changing times theme. You dont have to have a specific theme as I have seen wide open GB topics featuring automobile themes and nothing more with the guid lines stating any automobile from any period and genre with 2, 3, or 4 wheels. Cant be more wide open than that. But to limit my guidelines and help out with the nitpickers, it has to be Navy themed and either an F4 or F14.
In lihht of the carrier aircraft group build and the redundancy of this one, im going to switch it up. Ive decided todo a USAF group build. Any Air Force plane from past to present. Including bombers and helicopters (if there are any). No limitations except for it must be an Air Force craft and it must have been in service.
Please see “canceling F14/F4 GB. Switching it to USAF GB” in the GB section of the forum for full details and guidelines.
USAF group build how lurid. I’ll wait for a USN/USMC/USCG group build. If a plane has weak landing gear and can’t trap what good is it. [prte]
Already is one. Its labeld carrier based aircraft under GB forum. Thats why I switched to USAF. Nice try to clown on my build tho.
You put a feeler out first to gather interest…then you put the GB together. PM me and we’ll go from there buddy.
I would be interested but not anytime soon.
Did I read that right that the timeframe is now until the end of the year?
**gunner_chris:**End date was posted a couple of posts down
now I see it - thanks
