I have been wanting this model in 1/48 for quite some time and last night i found 1. Its by Heritage Aviation models. Im wondering if anybody has heard or built anything from this company. They list it for like 48 euro. I saw it online at a hobbyshop in seattle i used to frequent in late 90’s(man i spent alot of money there but he had great deals) for $89.00.
or do you guys know of any other maker for this model?
thanks
Shame you don’t do 1/72… Special Hoby have just released their kit and it’s said to be a real beauty…
Historically, who elso besides the Argentina Air Force has flown the Pucara?
I believe Argentina, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Venezuela and Uruguay have used the Pucara. I also once came across a source that said Iraq used them, but I’m not sure on that one at all!
(Just came across something else, quite by accident, that said Iraq used the Pucara, so now I’m beginning to think twice!)
Fade to Black…
I could have sworn that I read somewhere that Bolivia, too, might use them.

Wrongggg!! Venezuela never purchased the Pucaras…instead of that, we bought about 18 OV-10A ex-USAF in the late 80’s …and we still use it!!

Was Venezuela even considering the Pucara? That may be what I came across and I may have lost something in the translation. (German rag article) [:p]
Anyone else know anything about Iraq using these things? For some reason I’m now intrigued…
Fade to Black…
Bought the Special Hobby kit last weekend.
Lovely kit!
Neat crisp recessed panel detail, resin seats, intakes, exhausts and aerials.
Comes with an etched metal set and decals for 4 different a/c from Falklands/Malvinas War. Two are in camo schemes, and two in all over Aluminium.
a/c serials A-511, A-520, A-549 and A-568 supplied.
Not sure that the schemes for A-511 or A-549 are correct though, as Humbrol 122 (Light Green?) is quoted for both, although I can find no reference to this shade in the Humbrol Colour System Handbook.
Thankfully, an FS number is also provided (FS35622), which is available in the Lifecolor range of acrylics. Closest match to that I can find in Humbrol is 90 (Matt Beige Green).
Worst of all is the fact that these colours bear no resemblance to the box artwork of A-511, which shows much darker shades than those suggested (For the green or the light brown).
Artwork of A-549 in the July 2002 issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling shows the lighter colours.
If anyone out there knows better, I’d appreciate some hints!
Potentially, it would also be possible to use these decals to model A-509 (Strafed by Sea Harriers at Port Stanley), A-526 (Another natural metal machine abandoned at Port Stanley) or A-529 (‘Immobilised’ by the SAS in the raid on Pebble Island 15/05/1982).
Choices, choices!
As ever, it’s in the queue!
Cheers,
Rob M.
Yeahp, they (the FAV) considering it …but they (the FAV) bought the used Broncos instead of the Pucaras…
