Does anyone know where I can find a model of a German F boat? I can find one in 1/350 scale, but I’d like to find one in a larger scale. Thanks in advance.
Just so everyone knows what I mean, these are the Artilleriefahrprahm (AFP), sort of a landing craft mounting light and medium-calibre guns. British MTBs used to tangle with them.
The 1/350 WEM F-Lighter is the only kit you can buy. If you want a bigger one, you have to scratch build the vessel. It’s quite easy, ‘cause the hull and the superstructure are simple boxes. One of my actual projects is a D-Type Marinefährprahm (MFP-D) in 1/72. MFP-D and AFP had the same hull, and if you are interested I’ll send you scans of my 1/100 MFP-plans. For building an AFP you have only to cover the cargo bay, build a new deck house and add some guns.
