F/A-18A Hornet.

I am looking at getting some aftermarket decals for a CAF F/A-18A Hornet (or CF-188) in 1:72 scale. Who, in your opinion, makes the best Hornet?

Hase and Academy.

Hasegawa

Academy’s new F/A-18 is a real beauty.

That’s a nice looking model. I like the VFA-192 decals too. That’s the first one I’ve seen with the veins on the anti-glare panel. How’d it go together?

Excellent fit, logical parts, no filler needed. It comes with a large decal sheet, including all the markings for the weapons. The cockpit is great, and even the seat is decent. I WOULD attach more photos, but Windows Live has changed and I can’t get images to link right now.

I can’t insert photos at the moment, so follow this to my build up album.

roguepink he is looking for an “A” hornet the one you posted is a “C”. Nicely built though.

I’m not sure what kit is best in that scale (I build 1/32) but I do know were to get the absolutly best decals to make a cf-188.

[#oops] Yep, I did not catch the “A” qualifier. However, there are relatively few minor outer details that change. Most of the A to C changes were avionics and weapon systems capabilities. Sand off the little blades in front of the canopy and you’re pretty much there. The F/A-18 did not really have any big changes until the “E” Super Hornet, and that’s an entirely new airplane anyway.

Saw a couple of Supers flying around the McDonnell-Dou… um… BOEING plant this morning. I drive by on my way to class.

A’s didn’t have the three RWR bulges on the tails, only two.
