I wanted to share some pics of my latest build. It’s Shirley’s Texas Tornado, an F-86F flown by Lt. Sam Johnson. This is my first use of Alclad II following the method on Swanny’s website. I used four shades of Alclad - Polished Aluminum, Duraluminum, Aluminum, and Pale Burnt Metal. I also used the True Details wheels and cockpit set and AeroMaster decals. I painted the yellow/black ID stripes instead of using the decals - the decals were much thick and heavy. Thanks for letting me share.
The build looks great. When you shoot with your digital camera you should switch to manual mode. In auto even with the flash the camera tends to favor opening up the f-stop. That’s what causes the depth of field to be so short. If you switch to manual mode, then force the camera to the longest f-stop you have you’ll get much better results.
Wow, she looks great! Well done on the use of the Alclad! Maybe one of these days when I get bold enough for an NMF, Hopefully i’ll have the same results too! SHe’s a pretty one…[tup][tup]
Frank - the Theater stripes are painted - what a job of masking! I tried one of the wing decals first, but it seemed much to think and heavy. The job of masking the black stripe and then the yellow was time consuming, but well worth it. Here are a couple of progress pics that I took.
it is a very nice build! Painting right on the spot. Perfect ! I like painted stripes. Decals would decay the final effect. Is it a Hasegawa kit ? (I did not catch it on your post earlier)
