Hello all - I am building a F-82 Twin Mustang night fighter (Modelcraft) and I need help with the colors for the landing gear, wheels, wheel wells, and inside the landing gear doors. Any help is greatly appreciated. BTW, this kit is not very good and I recommend it only to very experienced modellers. Keep lots of putty handy! - Bob
My references show the NMF P-82s having a NMF inside all the doors, bays and the radiator scoops, and the black-finished Korean War-era F-82s having the black carried around to the inside of the doors, but the wells were gray, about the color of automotive primer… The cockpit walls of both cockpits in the nightfighter/all-weather version were black or very dark grey, the floors and pedals were grey. The landing gear struts and wheel hubs were grey as well, except for the oleo portion and scissors, which were NMF… On the CAF’s P-82, which was finished in black, there was no evidence of any zinc chromate green or yellow any on the plane in viewable locations.

accuracy not guarenteed.
Thanks, guys.
I would go along to what has been said BUT I would really watch out for restored birds… They are not always over all accurate however are a good source for references…
Good luck w/ that kit my friend, I know all to much about that kit[:P]
Flaps up,
Mike
