Hello all, I got some nice leading edge decals for CAF CF5’s and I have one F5A from Italieri. So I’m going to do one with this kit. However, I coincidentally found an airfix F5E for $1 so I figured no matter how bad the kit is its no big loss. It has raised lines and a bit of flash, but no big deal.
Basically, I was wondering if there were any major exterior structural differences in the 2 tigers, or if the Tiger 2 upgrade was more of an electronics enhancement.

The E had a redesigned wing which was larger. Its fuselage was also longer, due to an inproved engine which produced more power. It was heaver and had beefed up gear to support the weight.
Because of its increased weight and size and a more powerful engine, it could carry more under wing ordinance. It could not carry fuel tanks on the wing tips, only Sidewinder launch rails. The E and its two seat version the F was a big inprovement over the smaller A and B models.
