F-4E Phantom 526th Ramstein AB, Hasegawa 1/48 scale

Well all done, all out of the box apart from the Tamiya tape harness and a bit of wiring behind the RIOs panel.

The full build is <<here>>
[swg]

Vellejo paints, Promodellers dark wash.

Thanks for looking and happy modeling [#toast]

Very nicely done Phil! Did you mask the camo, and if so how did you do it? Excellent work! [tup]

Hi Frank,

All the camo is free hand apart from the wing tanks, there masked with Tamiya tape.

…OUT-Freakin’-STANDING!..Top Notch work here…5 stars and 2 thumbs up…

WSO’S !! We had WSO’S !!! None of that Navy rio junk. I clear my nose in thier general direction.[xx(][:D]

Couple of quick nitpiks, the entire slotted leading edge of the horizontal stab should be titanium and the number on the nose door is on upside down. Looks like a nice build otherwise. I spent some time on that very airframe at Ramstein.

Excellent work Phil. Phabulous Phantom [tup].

Regards, Rick

Outstanding job. You should be very proud of this build.

Superb!

Sorry, sorry WSO[banghead] titanium yep , my bad.

But thanks for all you comments.[#toast]

Gorgeous!

Beautiful Phantom there, Phil! The finish and panel line work is brilliant.

Lovely build, lovely bird.

Great work on the Phantom. You should add the gun purge scoop though. The E model gun purge scoop was always open on the ground when engines were not running.

Outstanding work.

Roy

That Phantom looks amazing - SEA camo is easily my favourite scheme.

Can i ask what airbrush you use? I’m extremely impressed with the nice demarcation lines.

I cannot add to these great kudos! Nice!

…just a question born of ignorance about non-Navy/Marine F-4s…Did all Phantoms serve with an arrestor hook? Just a general question for anyone.

Nam

Now THAT is definately a model that deserves the “Phabulous Phantom” moniker. Outstanding work.

to namrednef, yes, all F-4 Phantoms had the tail hook. Non-carrier capable F-4s used them for emergency arrestor cable engagements and such crazyness as “Pardo’s Push”. Look that one up on the internet. It is an interesting story.

Hi, I use a Harder & Steenbeck evoluion with 0.4 needle for camo work with Vallejo model air acrylic paints and the a wash of Promodellers weathering wash all over the model.

Hope that helps

Phil

Phil,

That’s a really impressive build. The weathering is really nice, particularly on the underside. The way you did the bare metal surfaces is nice too.

Chris

Thanks Phil,

At the moment, i just use a Paasche H (single action), which can’t get too fine. In Australia, i haven’t seen/heard of Harder & Steenbeck, in fact, i’ve never seen our stores stock anything other than Paasche and Badger. So i guess i’m limited to those two brands.

Hope to see more of your fine works in the future on this site.
