Interesting!

Very interesting! I wonder if Hasegawa will come out w/ this version soon. Plus, the lady walking in the backround of the second pic looks like an ex-girlfriend. Hmmm…[:p] - Calvin

hmmmm… enticing…

hmmmmm all it is is a F-16 with conformal fuel tanks on top of the plane.

Its definately not an F-16!

The F-2 is a very different plane[:D]

Is it just me, or are those wings bigger than an F-2s (making then even larger than an F-16s)?

Even though it fundamentally looks like an F-16. The F-2 and the F-16 are completely different animals… The biggest difference is in fact the size of the wings…

I dont know if this is just a proto type or what, but its the first I have seen of this design.

Theres another kit I am going to want when they do it.

I wonder if the the F-2 and the F/A-22 models are same scale? If so, then the F-2 is going to be a BIG bird…

The F-2 has been built and has been in service with the Japanese airforce for a few years now… It is similar in size to the F-16, not much larger… … It was designed to take over from the aging F-1 and T-2 fighters… The model in those pictures looks as though it is a newer variation of the F-2…

I saw them doing “touch and gos” up at Misawa; really neat. It was the same day I saw the F-4s go into the break. [:D] I was wondering if the Super Kai was going to extra large.

A dutch IPMS colleague is building an F2 from an original F16 revell. he’s making quite some adjustments, which clearly depicts the differences between the two ‘animals’(birds?).
I trust Meindert in being quite accurate in his analysis of these differences.
Overall size doesn;t appear to be the main difference. A 35% increase in wingspan, other size and form height rudders and a modified/enlarged radar dome seem to be the main adjustments.

happy reading!

Didn’t the governmant there recently terminate the F-2 early? Keeping the ones they have alreay and building news one thru a certain date, but halting production after that point? And if that’s the case - why did they do it and what do they intend to fly to replace the F-1?

Very interesting indeed, thanks for showing it! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

I am not totally sure on what has happened with the F-2. So I cant claim to be an expert… I do believe that the T-4 has taken on a roll as a squadron fighter, aswell as a trainer… The main workhorses are still the F-15 and the Phantoms though… There are people that would be alot more knowledgable than I… I am not really a big fan of the F-16, or the F-2, so i never really took alot of time studying it…

But as a laugh for everyone. I have modelled in 1/72 scale, every jet used in the JASDF… The one that was missing from my collection at one stage, was the F-2… Rather than go and buy another one, I was bored one day, and decided to make no modifications, and just paint up an old and poorly done F-16 that I had laying around… Here is the result… Lets just say that it is just filling the gap on the shelf until I get around to doing an actually model of the F-2… Enjoy a giggle at my expence![:)] I never even finished decalling it…

Does anyone have the new Hasegawa kit, the one with the current scheme? What are the two blues spec’d as?

Trigger, I have the kit but my belongs won’t be delivered from Japan till tomorrow. Believe me, That was not a cheap kit. I paid, I think, 2800 yen for it at Yusayaya(sp) before I left Japan. And that was for the 1/72 scale version by Hasegawa! - Calvin
