F-18 Tiger Meet Options

I have one of the Academy F-18 1/32 models and I am trying to decide what to do with it and I would like your opinion as to which insignia to use.

As you probably know, the model comes with “Blue Diamonds” and “Golden Dragon” insignia. I have seen a set of 2003 Tiger Meet decals from Leading Edge that will soon be avaliable in 1/32. For anyone who has seen them, they can tell you that they are striking and would look very good in that scale.
On the other hand, is there any significance to the “Blue Diamonds” or the “Golden Dragons” squadrons? Would a model look better as a flashy, show plane, or a regularly used fighter plane from a special squadron?
What would YOU do?

Up in the air,

Aw shucks Jake build them all. Why NOT?

Do you know if I can get those Dragan Decals for Hasegawa’s 1/48 Hornets? Does anyone?

Hey jimz, I wish I could build a whole carrier fleet in 1/32…imagine the coolness…
And yeah, they do have them in 1/48. They are avaliable at leadingedge.com.

That was my backup plan[:D]

Jake

Actualy, sorry, my fault, those decals aren’t avaliable in 1/48. I thought they were.

Jake

go for the used look. more realistic.

Hey Jake, how is that kit, is it really as good as they say?? Do I need to run out and pick it up?? Or is it not worth the trouble?

I posted some pics of a cf-18 in tiger stripes. Not sure if it helps though.

Hey Kik,

Yes Yes Yes Run fast!!
They say that building a 1/12 scale Williams FW-14 is like building a proto-type racecar,
(I hope so because I want one of them too!) Well if fighter planes are your thing, this is like building a proto-type. The detail is unmatched in anything I’ve ever seen: The armament avaliable to build is outstanding: the decals look way better in person, and it’s nice and BIG!! The main problems seem to be 1) do I build it wings folded, canopy open, radar exposed with more firepower on the ground than you’ll ever see in person, or 2) Do I build it in flight or just before take-off and let the elegance of the plane speak for itself. I could be debating that for far longer than I will need to construct it!

Why are you still sitting there, go…now…

Jake

Did you say radar exposed or disposed? [:p]

Fade to Black…

Hey Blackwolf,

Do you have any pictures of the HMS Hood in your library?
That’s a future project, need some referance pics?

Just Wondering

Jake

Oops, that hornet looks like the pilot forgot to brake…

Speaking of Tigermeet in 1/32, can anyone tell if there is an F-16 in that scale, I think I would look great in the Tigermeet colors that my country (Belgium) used.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm to do or not to do that is the question at hand. I would say do the tiger meet one. But again that is my opinion.

I like flashy show planes myself. Lotsa color!!! I love the fighters of the '50s and '60s. So, I would (and I am!!! I have the kit.) build it in flashy colors.

Hey Jake,
I am gonna say this only once[:p], its all up to you my friend. What scheme do you want to do?
To me I would do both but again the Tiger meet markings are eye catching. Heres a pix of a CF-18 that participated in the Tiger Meet Of The Americas. Heres a site of the meet. This is a great site enjoy…!!

Hey DanC,
I know Hasegawa did a F-16A and a “C” in 32nd. From what I can remember, they are not bad at all.
Yeah your right, you guys know how to doll up your a/c thats for sure. BTW here is a pix of an F-16 that participated in the above meet as well. She belongs to the Colorado ANG.

Flaps up, Mike
