The “Strike Eagle”, as it was dubbed, received initial operational capability on 30 September 1989 at Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina with the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing, 336th Tactical Fighter Squadron.

The F-15E was deployed when Iraq invaded Kuwait in August 1990. The 335th Tactical Fighter Squadron “Chiefs” and 336th Tactical Fighter Squadron “Rocketeers” were given orders to prepare for deployment one week after the invasion.

Try Tamiya… I have used their rattle cans for my F-15Es

Hey there PS,

Tamiya’s cans are actually “synthetic lacquers”. Only the “round jar” paints are acrylics. (In some countries, the X/XF range is replicated in enamels too.)

It all depends on what squadron and time period you are building. All F-15E of USAF have been changed to the overall gunship grey. That whole “low-vis” thing. I miss the old multi-colors of the USMC…even they have gone to 2 tone grey. I have an Academy and a Monogram version. I will probably do the Mono in the Green camo just for interest.

On another note. That whole digital camo really scares me! [snWow]
