F-15 Turkey Feathers

Okay, we all know that F-15s normally DON’T have exhausts with turkey feathers still attached. Does anyone know who (nation, squadron, whatever) DOES use the turkey feathers? Thanks!

There is no doubtthat I am not up on the modernstuff as much as I iwuld like to be but I honestly don’t recall ever seeing one with them. there must be soem form the early days though.

if what you are refuring to as turkey feathers are movable flaps on the exaust pipes of the F-15 Im pretty sure that monograms F-15 E has the option for either turkey feathers or the other regular option.

hope this helps, Trigger

albert,

I’m not sure about the Saudis, but i know the Israelies do have turkey feathers and the Japanese do not have them…at least in the one or two pics i’ve seen.

Hope this helps,

As Bwog pointed out, the F-15I Ra’am (Israeli F-15E variant named Thunder) does have turkey-feather exhausts. I just started researching that variant for an upcoming build.

You could always do an earlier F-15. Forthe first few years all operational eagles still carried their feathers. I think that it was 81 or 82 that we did a study to determine the need for these parts, by considering maint. time against the amount of drag that would result when removed.

Thanks for the info, guys!
