F-15 model for begginer

I build only autos, but my wife, who has caught the modelling bug watching me curse and complain, wants to build a modern jet fighter, preferably an F-15. She’s built a couple of cars, and a motorcycle, but is still a bit timid about tackling a real tough model.
Any suggestions on a jet fighter kit she could get good results out of while having fun building it? And do you recommend 1/48 or 1/72 scale?
Thanks!

Hi glheald,
I do 1/48 because it isn’t too expensive or big and gives pretty good detail. If she has done a few models before it shouldn’t be too tough. If you have a subject you are interested in the go for it. Hasegawa kits are good with pretty good painting details. Or maybe if you want to get a revell kit in 1 or 2 skill level. Just remember those kits don’t have as much detail. If she takes her time it won’t be hard. Remember it’s about fun. Any questions that come up just post them here and they will get answered.

glheald;

I would second wroper11’s vote for a 1/48th scale F-15 by Tamiya or Revell/Monogram. Plenty of detail, not too big, not too small, good instructions and not too expensive.

Good luck to you and your wife … it is great to hear of spouses who not only support the hobby … but want to jump in and get “wet”. [8D]
