January 17,1991 marks the first U.S.A. air-to-air kill by an F-15 in wartime combat.

(F-15C vs. Iraqi MiG-29)

Any variant, any nation or time frame.Actual documented aircraft only.

Any scale

Aftermarket items ( such as photo-etch,resin cockpits, decals) and scratchbuilding allowed and encouraged!

Please keep everyone posted of your progress and submit pics, if at all possible. The most encouraging thing (to me at least) is to get to see everyones work and hear about the ups and downs of their project in progress and how they might do things differently next time. But the main rule is to enjoy yourself!

Now I am excited! [tup]

WOOHOO!!! [:D][:o)][party] Me too! I just came back from a short honeymoon, and am on vacation the rest of the week.I am going to concentrate on finishing up some loose ends around the house here, so I can be ready to build.I am still debating on which scale I am going to build,1/48 or 32.

Is everyone else ready?

Congratulations on the new marriage my friend. [tup]

Thanks Mike… I figured I probably should hang on to her after our first date.I took her to see the Thunderbirds practice and from then on she kept bugging me about going to an airshow.Another factor was that after she seen my stash, one of the first things she asked me is if I would show her how to build a model.Anyhoo…[:-^]…enough of the mushy stuff… I’m ready to paint my hand and glue my fingers together! LOL!!

Congratulations, I’m almost as ready as I’ll ever be. like I said, I WILL start this group build, and I WILL finish this group build, Just don’t know if it will be in the time alotted, but that will be ok!! Let’s Roll

I hear ya!! I have signed up for 3 or 4 GB only to get stalled out on them right at the beginning cause of more pressing issues. So,like you,I am GOING to finish this GB.But I will also have the new wife lQQking over my shoulder making sure that I get it done.

Congrats Zone V. Ready to GO!!

P.S. Does anybody make a cheaper box than Revell?

Jerry

Thanks for the congrats Willuride and Jerry.

Yeah Jerry, I know what you mean about the box.Whenever I put my Revell boxes on the shelf I always put them on the top layer because of that very problem. The car kits are just as bad.I have had to rebox several of them.

I have decided to go ahead and build the Tamiya 1/32 Mud Hen.I’m not sure where it will go when it’s done but… Anyhoo[:-^],I have a few aftermarket things I am going to throw at it,so hopefully it will turn out ok.Any of you other guys going to use aftermarket stuff? I gotta tell ya though, that I am wringing my hands in excitement! Are we the only 4 that are this interested in getting started? (crickets chirping) LOL

Sweet, and off we go. Oh yea, the screenname is archangel571 (571 is from that movie U571, I started using it in highschool after the movie came out. in order to avoid names being taken and start my own unique series of recognizable names, i added 571 to every screenname or log-in I used when I registered for them.), and the academy F-15D kit is 1/48 scale.

Looking forward to see your build progress pix for that 1/32 Tamiya F-15E, zone V. That will help me decide whether or not to sell my 1/32 F-15C. It just looks too sweet to be sold along with the 1/32 F-14A 1994 ver.

My apologies about your screen name Ryan. It’s fixed though.

Yeah, after I dug out my 32nd ‘E’ and was checking out the Black Box cockpit that I bought for it,my mind was made up.But I’m also looking forward to seeing your build. Will you be able to post pics?

After Market?..After close inspection of the kit cockpit, I decided to order the Aires set. The kit parts are’nt bad, but the Aires set is impressive. I’m also going to use Verlinden avionics bays. This should keep me busy. Can’t wait!

Jerry

Hello all, well i started diceing my eagle up and heres some pics. I will be scratch building alot so may take me the whole g/b time"maby more". Not even close too finshing cuting next up will be the engine bay, a.a.r. door, pc1, pc2, utli res pnls, j.f.s.bottles pnls com door, ect. I will post more as i get done.

Peace, Jimmy

I have that Aires cockpit …man it’s really purrty! LOL!! You going to open the radome also Jerry? That is the main reason I decided to go with 1/32. I didn’t want to build my '48 and leave half of the eye candy off of it.But I didn’t want to break up of the sexy lines of the a/c either.I guess thats a darn good reason to go buy another '48.

LQQks like Jimmy is going to cook up something really interesting for all of us…

OK guys…I can’t take it anymore!!! Ooooh the humanity of it all!!!

Is it cheating if I start working on the bang seats tonight instead waiting till tomorrow?!?

Zone, man one day is a drop in the bucket of what we have ahead of us go for it i did lol.[}:)]And i got my first model eagle bite for it too.[B)]

I know what you mean guys, and I fess up. Although I’m going to use the Aires CP, I couldn’t resist and I’ve painted the kit pit just for fun. That’s not really cheating, is it? The reality is, the kit parts are pretty decent, including the seats. I’m going to try something unusual to replicate the CRT’s and am anxious to see how it’ll look.

I think I’ve decided not to open the radome. The parts appear to be very well done, but I personally like the looks of a finished model with it closed. Besides…I have my hands full with wiring the avionics bays.

Cheers,

Jerry

I added some of the I.F.E. model’s greatest hits from my time at the heath feel free too ck them out too “no one was killed, and the jet thats in two pieces was rebuilt and is flying again!”
