F-15/106 hybrid

For those of you who follow my kitbash craziness, here’s one that I’ve had on the back burner for a while. I finally feel I’ve got enough inspiration to move forward on it. Seriously, if I don’t have at least 5 projects going at once, I can’t think straight[;)].As always, I start out with a rough mock up and then go back and start refining. Here’s the mock up pix from a while back and one from tonight at the bottom. Where to put the main gear is going to be a challenge.

Eddie

LOL…Eddie, I still think you’ve slipped a cog…but THIS latest act of butchery has some real potential…this one could be very interesting, mate.
I love the shape of the intakes when viewed from the front…and if you can smooth out all the different changes of directions with the surfaces, this one’s going to be a winner.
The angular canopy of the 106 should compliment the intakes nicely…

Take it easy, mate.

What are you going to call this one. A Darteagle, Eagledart, or Flartdeagle? [:D] [:P] [:-^]

Cool bird

Bud

Eddie,

You have totally flipped your living noodle… but, hey I like it! I think you ought to call this one “The Delta Eagle”, that’s basicly what it is. LOL.

I would go with main gear on the fusalage as would be on the F-15. Drill more holes out on wings for weapons stations and keep the 106 weapon bay and add AIM-120’s or B-61 Nukes there. That’s going to be one wicked bird when done. Good Job!

Air Master

Looks like Eastwood’s Firefox

Well, Eddie does fly with his mind…

Thanks for the encouraging words Everyone. I’ve got a few Phoenix that I’m thinking of modifying for this one as well as a few nukes here and there. We’ll see…

You must think in kitbash![;)] This is the one that I think looked closest to the Firefox. Alas, as with all my builds, they change with the progression of time.

You know, Eddie. Your method gets used in aerospace
all the time on real planes. For example, there are several
Dryden Research planes with F-16 tails on them, F-18 pieces.

I like the mottled jet alot. Good Work!

GIVE ME YOUR TALENTS!!! Seriously, that looks sooooooo awesome! By the way, how can I veiw those pics at the bottom of your post’s and replies?

Scott “Defender of the Universe”

That looks like fun [:D] ! You havea great imagination Ed . [tup]

Here are the links to most of my work. Thanks for your interest[:D]

Great work Eddie as usual you’ve come up with yet another mind bender! Are you sure you don’t or never did work for NASA! Or maybe somewhere like Area 51? I know if you told me you’d have to kill me.

Thanks Eddie

A friend of mine did a photoshop of that spaceplane and if I get permission, I’ve got some great photos to share.

Here’s the progress of the wing area. For now the canards are 86ed.

Eddie

I’m impressed at how many idea’s you come up with . Looks interesting as usual .

Very Nice Eddie!, Your kitbashing is as much of part of modeling as OOB or more. As a kid we used to do the same with car models. Keep up the great work my friend[tup]…[8D]

Thanks again! As most of you know, I don’t rely on plans. I just go with my gut (and with what the model tells me to do[swg]). I’m happy with the intakes, so when I ran across intake obstruction/fit issues with the weapons bay, the only answer is to get out the rotary tool and CHOP! This works alot better and it leaves me room to work.[:D]

Eddie

On a side note, my son and I took a road trip last weekend and stopped by an American Legion hall in Bastrop,TX. Here he is in front of a few pieces of hardware.[:)]

Looking GOOD Eddie! I see you took my advice and put a B-61 Nuke in there, Awesome. Can’t wait to see her finished.

Air Master

Thank you very much. Because I had parts left over from the big part of this project, I decided to do two hybrids. Waste not, want not, right? I started this one monthes ago as well and had a brain vapor lock for a long time. I couldn’t figure out how to blend the aft F-106 section with the F-15 nose. I went through my extras box and found a DC-10 that I thought would do nicely and here are the results.I know it looks a bit weird, but once I’m done, it will fit right in. This is made up of a F-15 nose and wings, F-106 aft section, F-4 radome for the tail section and the engines from my KC-135. It kinda gives me a modern day A-3 feel.[:)]

Eddie

This Lockheed-KAI T-15 has an F-16’s tail and an F-18’s front part.
