F-14A Tomcat; VF-211 Fighting Checkmates (Revell 1/72)

Hi Guys!

Maybe you’re sick of Tomcat models, maybe you’re not, but here’s my latest Tomcat build… I have to finish it by 17th November, since on 18th are our nationals…
It’s OOB except for the decals, which are from Superscale.
Enjoy in the pics of the progress so far:

That is really good looking Thor!!! The paint job is coming along very nicely. What decals did you get for it… or are you going to make me wait until you finish [:D]

great looking pre shading there, any tips on applying the grey\white wave pattern on the bottom?..i never seem to get it right

<>Colin, the markings will be from SuperScale sheet 72-192; a bird from 1976, similar to the one on the pic below…

Lone, I did it the following way: First I applied the white, then I have drawn a demarcation wavy line with a 0.3mm pencil and airbrushed it freehand…

WOW, she’s looking SWEET !

Paint scheme complete - ready to put some Future on…

Very nice ideed Thor. Great job onthe paint, the preshaing really works well.

looks better and better

OK, somebody might quesion how do you attach the wings to the Revell 1/72 Tomcat after the fuselage was closed…

<>Here are the photos of this procedure:

The wing’s pivot is basically a vertical rod, to which the wing is attached

The wing should be inserted at more swept angle and pushed into that vertical rod

The next wing should be inserted at moderate sweep and align the other wing to match the sweep and push it in…

And here’s the result

It can happen that the wings won’t move simultanously, or that the wings will have to be adjusted manually, but you can try at re-attaching the wings… I don’t care about this much, cause I don’t play with my models…

And the last “in-progress” shot… the next photos will be of finished Cat!

Enjoy!
