F-14A Tomcat Canopy position

Hey everyone. I’m nearing completion on ym Revell 1/48 F-14A Tomcat, and would like to position the cockpit canopy in the “up” position. however the inructions included witht he set don’t really explain with any detail how to do this. I’m assuming there is a support peice or something like that. I really want the canopy up as this is the first cockpit I have put any real detail into.

Thanks,
wetmonkey

Ther is a hydraulic strut directly behind the backseat that supports the canopy. Check this out here at the Aircraft Resource Center:http://aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1/001-100/walk070_F14/images/Doc1-307.jpg And here’s the rest of the ARC Walkaround showing more.http://aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1/001-100/walk070_F14/walk070.htm Hope this helps.

Hey! I just about forgot. [#welcome]to the Forum. And here’s another F-14 reference: www.anft.net/f-14

I guessed that was how it was raised, however the model seems to lack a part to do this. I suppose I could always scratch build something, but I kind of wanted this model to be compeltely out of th box. The instruction manual shows the canopy in both positions, but doesn’t show how to get the canopy into the open positon.

On the side: thanks for the pics, they will defienntly help with my next Tomcat, which I will hopefully make a bit more realistic.
