AirMaster has awakened the Tomcat bug in me that I was hoping to keep at bay for awhile more, but since I’m stalled on the B-25 pusher for the moment, I thought I get started. I’ve got 2 Revell A models that I was pleasantly surprised to find can be upgraded to a minimum of the B and maybe the D, if I’m correct. I’m doing this one up in VF-2 Bounty Hunter colors. I’m also going to follow the tips given by Darren Roberts as per his build in the Nov. 06 issue of FSM. Hold on to your hats, because I’m going to be doing an OOTB build. No mods. And off we go…[;)][:D]
Yeah, sure. Thats what you said last time, and I remember a certain killer whale scheme that I have never seen on any aircraft before! [:P] I tell ya what, if you can actually tell me what OOTB stands for , I will believe you!
Seriously Eddie, that is going to be a nice build, but good luck, I started on mine and it didn’t work as well as I had hoped… Good luck!
Well…I don’t actually know what it means…[swg][(-D] This is going to be a bit of fresh air. No thought having to be expended on whether an 8 barrel mini gun would look good on it…say now there’s an idea…[;)][:-^]
Yeah, I think Revell/Monogram included some of the “B/D” parts in their “A” kit, though I’ve never tried to update an “A” before, I’ve only back-dated a “D” to an “A”. But I don’t see any reason why it can’t be done. Good luck! Keep us updated . . .
HUH??? What??? Eddie, I didnt do it man… I WAS FRAMED!!! [:-,] And for those asking OOTB means Out Of The Box and I never thought I’d ever see Eddie say OOTB. [:O]
The Revell F-14A 1/48 can be done as either an A, B or a D with little or no extra’s.
Good Luck Eddie! I’m going to watch this one and learn from the Jedi “Kitbash” Master.
Your Padwan Learner,
Air Master
PS… I swear I was seduced by the Dark SIDE!!![:-^]
I have been known to do an OOTB build now and again, but not often![(-D] Here’s my last one and a few from the past. I must warn you that the one’s on Midwaysailor.com were done a long time ago and my skills have improved since then, so don’t judge too harshly.[swg]
Eddie, I’d never judge you! You inspire me to improve my skills. I know once in while you do an OOTB, I recall the F-18E Blue Angels “what IF” build you did and that one got me to thinking of doing my F-14 as a VF-96 Tomcat.
That’s AirMaster! I’m glad it’s rubbing off a bit.[swg] Here’s tonight’s progress.[:)]I’ve got the intake trunks together and the office (it’s a bit rough, I know[|(]) in the fuselage and buttoned up.
Do you have or use a Jewelers or Opti Visor? I use one for painting the instrument panels and it’s a savior when you want the Office to look just like the real thing. I wish my digital camera took better close up pictures because thats were I excel at is painting the cockpit and instrument panels on my kits.
I think your right![(-D] Here’s what I’ve got right now. I have one wing in and the other out to show how I followed Mr. Roberts idea of chopping the gears. They stay in very well and the way I cut mine, they stay locked in while deployed.
