I am working now on an Academy 1/72 f-117 and want to build it as an FSD, “senior trend” aircraft. I use Squadron’s “Walk around f-117a nighthawk” as my main reference.
Does anyone have photos or a link to photos of the analog cockpit of the “yf-117”?
Does anyone have an idea of how to remove the de-icers from below the intake in my model without ruining it?
Hey Benny,
Ah yes the “Baja Scorpion”
For your first question, at the moment I cant not get to my reference material for the cockpit stuff. I’ll check first thing when I get home K…!!
As to removing the de-icers, couldn’t you just fill in the panel lines by using squadron putty and sand flush so it would blend in w/ the surrounding surfaces.
Again this is off the top of my head, I’ll check my Tamiya quater scale 117 to make sure that would be the correct steps and if not I’ll let ya know.(even though your kit is by a different mfg and being 72d)

I will be very happy for the cockpit references.
About the de-icers: they are shaped like a step beneath the air-intakes that protrude forward. Ignoring their presence as a compromise is really an option and if I don’t come up with a relatively easy way to remove them, I might just won’t… (but I do hope for an easy way to come into mind…)[8)]
Hey Benny,
If I’m looking at the same thing your talkin about( the de-icers), it looks like the YF-117A had them.
Unless they used the same style drawing for their color layout. But as I look too, on pg 72 of the walk around(above shot), it appears to have a “step like” object in front of the intake.
Ah never mind my friend, after awhile the different angles look the same to me!![:p][:p]
To remove it, try using the dremal tool w/ a small round sanding head and cut away/sand off the step.
Once that has been accomplished, go back and put a piece of Evergreen sheet styrene in the back postion of the hole.
From there fill in the remainder front section with filler/putty then once completely dry sand it to make it flush with the surface.
This sounds like a lot of work but guess what it is… LOL[:p] Na this should solve your problem.
As for the interior pix, I know I have seen them somewhere. I know I have pix of the production 117 interior…uuuummmmm.
More hunting I guess[:p][;)]
Hope this helps out my friend.
