What a finely rendered model of one of my four or five favorite airplanes ever. It’s just a beautiful model and an elegant, classic design from pitot to airbrakes and everything in between. Though it was modified over the years, not only did the Dart not lose any of its clean lines, they got even cleaner when the 1972 mod that gave it air-to-air refueling capability also did away with the top frame on the canopy. That’s how you can tell whether you are looking at a really old photo or a later one.
As for the kit, even though it came out in 1983, it was the first kit that showed Monogram was capable of equalling anything Tamigawa could put out there, and at half the price. If this was re-released with nothing changed but the addition of recessed panel lines, no one would notice it’s a 22-year-old kit, I’d be willing to bet.
