F-105G errors

I had a second set 1/32 scale gear for the F-105, and nothing to use it on. I ordered the F-105G and got it delivered this Tuesday. I didn’t get a chance to look at it real close until today.

The F-105G had four wedge shaped antennas just behind the radome. They are not molded on the kit nor are the included. If anyone has built the “Geasel” you should check references and add these to your model. It will not be hard to do.

The instructions would have you install the aircraft data serial number for aircraft 63-8320 on aircraft 62-4440. Aircraft 440 does not have a decal with the proper serial number on it so you will have to change it.

The rest of the model looks pretty good. It will look even better with the Black Box cockpit I also got with it.

Wasn’t there some mention about the vertical tail being wrong? Something about it having the air intake at it’s base to big or something? I heard it was the right tail for the “D” but not the “G”.

You are right. I went back and looked at it. It does have the short tail as used on the “D” model. That will take some doing to modify it into the taller tail. Maybe someone will come out with a resin tail along with bulkheads for the engine bay.

Look at the nosecone itself. It has four wedge-shaped areas on it, although they may not be what you are referring to.

I don’t have my instructions here, but I seem to remember that as well. My decal sheet has one decal that reads “US Air Force F-105G-1-RE A.F. Serial No. 63-8320” on the right side of the sheet but on the other side of the sheet there is one for 62-4440.

The radar itself leaves a bit to be desired and my nosecone was slightly deformed so I had to build it with the nosecone open. The BB cockpit is great though. I used it in mine as well.
