F-105 Bomb Bay

I’m building a Trumpeter F-105G and it has the option of building the bomb bay open or closed. I’m building it open since it has an internal fuel tank as well as some good detail in it. Unfortunately the bay doors are apparently just glued to the fuselage. They don’t have any hinges or actuator arms or anything on them, so I need to add “Something” to make it look a bit more realistic.

Does anyone know of any pix available that show the bay doors of an F-105 in the open position? I’ve found lots of pictures of them, but they all show the bay doors closed so I don’t know what the hinges or actuators look like.

I think the F-105 had a rotary bombay so, no hinges or actuators would be visible

Thanks for the info, Ray, however the one in my model isn’t rotary. It has attachment points in the top of the bay for the load, in this case an internal fuel tank. I suspect it has a couple of semi-circular hinges on each door, but I’m just not sure.

I appreciate the help though.

Detail & Sale has a really good pisture of the open bombay. The doors opened internally without any hinges being visible. I will try to can them if you need me to.

Hey Colt45Team, are you an Astros fan by any chance? I only ask because of the name, the Strohs were originally the Colt 45’s. I used to have a great black hat with a red .45 on the front.

I’d love to see them. I have searched everywhere I can think of on the internet and can’t find a picture of the bay open anywhere.
