F-104 Gurus: ejection seat question

Modelers, I’m looking to purchase a cockpit set for the Hasegawa F-104G but I’m a bit unsure which I need. In case you don’t know, the aircraft I will be modeling will have been used in German service. The particular aircraft left German service in 1985 if that should help.

Anyway, Cutting Edge has two sets: One with the Lockheed C2 seat and one with the MB GQ7 seat. If I understand correctly, most in German service were changed to the MB seat. Is this correct?

Any background info on this would be appreciated.

Bones-
You are absolutely correct! After 1967, all of Germany’s F-104Gs were retrofitted with the Martin-Baker Mk.GQ7A seat. Happy modeling! Frank

Check out Kevin Coyne’s ejection seat site www.theejectionsite.com for some excellant history as well as great detail pix of the 104s seats. Good luck.

The url for that site is: www.ejectionsite.com

I went ahead and ordered the set with the MB seat.

Thanks for the clarification, gentlemen.
