F-102S/ TF-102

As requested, the other side of hhe Hasegawa F-102S:

1/48th conversion:

Nice work Ikar, thanks for sharing! [tup]

Nice TF, Ikar! I have a 1:48 Monogram F-102 still in the box. What did you use to convert to the TF-102? Was it the C & H resin kit? I’ve read that it requires a lot of mods to make it fit.

Thanks,

Ken

Nice work on the fat nosed Deuce. That conversion must have been an awful lot of work, but you certainly did a nice job on it.

It was the C&H resin conversion that I used. I did have a couple problems , the first being the I mis-cut the fuselage and ended up with a 1/4 inch gap between the two parts. I did quite a bit of grinding with my dremel to get the cockpit lined up and fit as well as the nose gear bay. The seats needed a little trimming to fit into their wells and the missile bays needed some work. I used a piece of this metal printing press plate to make the vortice gemerators for the canopy. It takes some work but I think that it’s worth it. It’s a shame that no one ever came out with a complete model for this one. In the future: RF-101C and the F-106B.

Ikar,

The “Deuce” looks awsome! I did the 106B in 48th using the Falcon vacuform conversion kit. It came out pretty good but will require some mods as well. Looks like you will have not trouble handling it though.

Ikar,

Thanks for the info. Don’t know if I have the expertise or guts to try that TF conversion, it sounds pretty difficult. Maybe some day? [%-)]

If you already have the kit, why not do a little now and then? The hardest part was making the first cut on the fuselage. I was worried that I might be cutting in the wrong spot. I was. But it made me go on to repair the damage. Especially considering the money that I spent on the conversion. I didn’t want to waste it.
