Eye of the beholder?

And at the other end of the spectrum, you have the Zumwalt…I haven’t figured out if it is a problem looking for a solution, or a solution looking for a problem. IMO, it would look better if it was rolled over 180*.

It is an ugly thing.

Burkes on the other hand very sharp.

I’ve always like the looks of the IJN Takeo CA’s. Stong and yet elegant. My favorite are the German Scharnhorst battle-cruisers. I do have a soft spot for the Colorado class BB’s, ala Pearl Harbor.

tigerman - one of the Colorado’s 5 inchers is at the museum up in Chehalis. Mounted outside in the fenced display area by the Cobra.

The Yamato was a looked like a brute of a warship. The Iowas look powerful and a bit elegant at the same time. The Bismark/Tirpitz were impresive. Can’t say much about the Italian ships. This was a strange one:

To see the Mikasa, which was classified as a Dreadnaught, with masts incase it needed sails…it’s interesting, but a little weird.

I think so on their cruisers. Sleek beautiful lines when compared to all others. Their destroyers also. in battleships though, aside from the Yamato class, nowhere near as graceful looking as the USN fast battleships.

Hi,

I think that some Japanese ships are very interesting (like the MYOKO class) though some others either look too top heavy for me (like the modernized FUSO), with others looking just kind of bizzare or convulted (like the TONE).

But like others have noted everyone probably has there own favorite and/or non-favorite ship types based on appearance. For me, I’ve grown quite interested in Imperial Russian Pre-Dreadnoughts. Although I used to think ships like the TSESAREVICH and the BORODINO class were kind of odd looking over the years their appearance has grown on me quite a bit and I have a model of bothe the POTEMKIN and the SUVOROV in my stash, waiting to be built (and I’ve been fighting the temptation to pick up a copy of the TSESAREVICH as well).
