Export Model Group Build 2020

Hello, I am also in, with an iconic L/L case, P-39N Airacobra in Soviet WWII service (Eduard, 1/48)

Got you added. Welcome!

Ooo nice. A large scale 'Hawk. [:)]

Hi Mach1,

Put me down for a Sword 1/72 T-33 please. It will be in German markings.

Cheers

Tony

Got you down. Welcome aboard!

I suspect I will be overcomitting with builds in 2020, but put me down for a Dragon’s 1/35 SU-100 Six Day War kit in Egyptian markings.

Mach,

Put me down for a 1/72 Tamiya P-51D/K. Country to be decided. According to Wikipedia 28 coutries flew her during and after WWII and I have decals for most of them. May do one of the odd ducks like Cuba or the PLAAF.

I’d like to join Mach

1/35 Italeri M24 in French service at Dien Bien Phu. Bravo 6 figures as well. Thanks bud.

I know the feeling, Glamdring. Still, glad you decided to join up.

Got you down, and welcome!

Sure thing.

From looking through the list of operators, the German, Japanese, and PLAAF P-51s would be considered war spoils (captured craft as opposed to exports). The rest of the list has a few gray areas but would all be fair game.

Got you added. Looks to be the start of a great diorama.

No problem Boss. The Cuban birds probably fall in one of the darker shades of gray areas as well. That’s not a problem as there are still some odd ducks out there. Just found some decals for a Haitian Mustang (it’s a light gray, unlike a lot of postwar Mustangs which were natural metal, plus they adapted F-86 tanks to the hard points. Don’t normally do underwing stowage, but that ticks the just weird enough to model box in my brain. Kinda like an Iranian F-14 carrying a Hawk missile under her wings.). The green and black camo Indonesian Mustang with a red spinner and silver undersides is tempting as well. Somalia is also in the running.

I’d like to see a Haitian P51! Definitely thinking outside the box

For grins and giggles, would a Harrier (AV-8A) in USMC markings count?

Yep.

That Haitian P-51 would be quite a looker too.

Howdy Mach 1,

Does the GB include Air Force planes that end up in civilian service?

I would like to build a Canadian Vickers Catalina that went to the USAAF for service, then to RCAF, then sold as surplus.

Ended up down under in service with TAA Sunbird Services from 1962 to 1966. This is the livery that I want to model.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers

Piers

I say go for it! A liscense-built bird that wound up in civilian service is too cool to pass up. Looking forward to seeing her come together.

Excellent!

1/72 Academy Catalina in TAA Sunbird service.

Got the decals in for the Haitian Mustang. Might have to move to a later build as it used the cuffless prop of the K and the Tamiya P-51D comes with only the cuffed prop (to get the cuffless version, you have to get the F-51D and I have several on the way from HLJ). Was looking at Hannant’s site and Xtra Decal makes a set of international P-51’s with Italy, Sweden and Switzerland (which I don’t have) and several that I do (Haiti, RCAF, RAF, RAAF, RNZAF, SAAF, and Somalia). Just have to figure out want else I want to make the minimum order. Lostagain’s question has inspired me to consider an A-26 as a Canadian Fire Bomber as well.

I’m interested. Especially since crossovers are allowed.
