Experience with Tamiya X32 or X35 ?

Planning to buy those 2 planes, they are pretty cheap at store666.com buth i’m wondering if they are of good quality.
Anyone an id or already has experience with them ?

I don’t build 72nd, and so have had no direct experience with either of these kits. But I can tell you that both of them are reboxings of Italeri kits, as are many of the other 72nd kits currently in Tamiya’s catalog…

Fade to Black…

Hmmmmmmmmm why would Tamiya be reboxing italera kits. Seems kind of weird if you ask me.

Falcon: Probably because they know that with their logo on the box, they can double Italeri’s price and people will still buy the kit.

Falcon10,
I can’t EVER remember seeint ANYTHING other than Tamiya plastic in one of their boxes, nor have I ever seen another manufacturer’s box containing Tamiya sprues - they’re really quite distinctive, and really are different than any other manufacturer’s molds.
I’m certainly no authority on the provenance of the molds that a model comes out of, but I have to say in over 35 years of model building I’ve never seen Tamiya use someone else’s molds.
Backwolf, what kits are originally Italeri releases? If they’re good enough to be put in a Tamiya box, I’ll buy it.

I made the mistake of buying some of these kits. The WWII 1/72 tamiya kits are original tools and great but watch out for modern jets. They’re definitely Italeri and often junk.

Tamiya has reboxed other manufacturers kits on a fairly regular basis, but I think they are intended mainly for the Japanese home market. With todays Global Economy, they sometimes find there way into other markets. The only 1/72 jet kits that are truly Tamiya are the F4D Skyray & the F-84. The Bell X-1 was originally tooled by another Co. ( Mania ??), but is a very nice kit.

LeeTree,

I think RJ probably answered your question as to which 72nd jets are truly Tamiya, although not being a little scale kinda guy I dunno fersher, myself. I think they may have also boxed some Italeri props too but, again, I dunno fersher.

Anyhoo, here’s another Tamiya rebox; 'tis the AMtech Huckebein:

Fade to Black…

Yup, Tamiya boxes a lot of Italeri stuff (and plainly marked as such on the box) for the Japanese market, but NOT at twice the price here. Italeri stuff under it’s own name is VERY expensive here, however.

The same goes for Hasegawa and Revell/Monogram (again, plainly marked as such), except those kits are very expensive here. They’ve just re-issued the 1/48 B-17G for about $60 USD.

The reason I stress that Tamiya and Hasegawa plainly mark that those kits are reboxed Italeri or Revell/Mongram kits is that a lot of the Western (and Eastern European, and Chinese) manufacturers do not give us consumers the same courtesy. How many times have we heard complaints about reboxed Hasegawa kits showing up in Pro-Modeler boxes? It would be nice if other manufacturers around the world would follow Tamiya’s and Hasegawa’s lead in this area as well.

Of course, if it’s an illegal copy of another company’s kit, we can’t expect that, can we?[;)]
