Anyone else from Canada ordered from www.greatmodels.com? I just placed an e-order and was wondering how long it should take. Kind of like my second christmas…
Sorry, not in Canada, but I’ve recently made my first order with them. I like the on-line status check their site gives you. You can see what’s been pulled and what they’re waiting on, and you can have them send you what they’ve got, too. Just a nice feature, I think. I’m waiting on a 4" Hold-N-Fold kit for my order to be complete.
You are certainly going to get a lot of feedback on this one, trust me! I personally haven’t had the best of luck. About half the orders I have placed their service was kinda lousy. Just make sure whatever you order says (In Stock), if not you may not get it. There’s a lot of people that like their service and prices as do I, but it gets kinda hit and miss, I kinda expect it now so its no big deal.
Yeah, I have. If it’s in stock, it shouldn’t be a problem. If they have to wait to get it, you probably going to wait a while. You will also get hit with the taxes as it crosses the border. I had to pay the taxes COD to get it from the mailman. I live in Quebec. I don’t know what happens elsewhere. HTH
I’ve used Greatmodels alot and they’re generally quick and courteous. They did drop one of my orders twice, so I just gave up on it - otherwise nothing but a positive experience. I am in the continental U.S. though, but I don’t think it would be much different shipping to Canada.
US here, too but if you order something instock, they usually process in 24 hours. To give you a little idea of time, I live near Pittsburgh and from Utah to Pittsburgh by Fedex, it is 5 business days and with UPS it is 6 business days.
I’ve had decent experiences with GM. I have placed 5 or 6 orders with them over the last few months and aside from a couple of minor glitches that were cured rather quickly after an e-mail to the customer service dept., I have had no troubles at all. As has been said, In Stock items are processed within 24 hours and it takes pretty much everything else about a week for them to get in. The exception here seems to be books, which they apparently don’t stock and take longer than kits for them to get. If you can get it on Canadian orders, I would recommend using the UPS shipping option. It does take a day or so longer to deliver (at least here in the states) but with UPS you get an e-mail notification that your order has shipped and a tracking number. For some reason you don’t get this with Fedex. Enough rambling for now. Hope this helps. Pete
I"m from TO, and I ordered form them once, and again not too long ago. If you got the standard surface mail option, you may want to give it around three weeks.
Thanks for the replys guys. Can’t wait to hide the mail from my wife.
I was nervous about my lastest GM order, which is due early next week. That is until my wife went out and bought new bedroom curtains and three new dresses. Now I’m golden!!
Mostly positive on my end. Their customer service is very courtious and generally prompt. Definately order in-stock only if you are in a rush.
as said earlier, quick service with "in stock"items, back ordered or presale items, youd better sit back and wait. overall a good experence
I’ve placed 1 order with them and I had no troubles. I took the cheapest shipping option and it arrived at my place (Western Canada) after about 2 weeks. . .I did have to pay an extra $10.00 or so to get the package from the post office though.
I’ve had good service from GM’s, and if there is a problem their 1-800 number is just a fingers reach. Like some of the folks here have said, If it’s in stock it’ll move fast, but if you’re in a hurry for something not in stock, you may want too shop another web site supplier. Semper Fi, mike
Their service is top notch and the following day that you order you can check your status and let them know what items to ship or even delete back orders right from the site. If you have any experience with ordering from the states, you know that customs hits you pretty good (where is this free trade thing?). If your order value is under $20, they will not bother charging this fee.
Hmm. I have ordered stuff from Squadron before and never had to pay anything at the Post office. Wonder why?
I’ve used GM a lot. Ann in Customer Service is great to deal with…I’ve called them to check on arrival dates for the Revell Type VII Uboat and Tamiya F16 (they were preorders…)
Also, they have a lowest price guarantee that I’ve yet tot est. Overall, a great purchase experience…
Generally positive like all the rest but have to echo the In Stock warning. Even then you can get a nasty surprise…I recently placed an order that included the Dragon Sdkfz 251 D 3-in-1 they had at a Sale price…website listed it as In Stock…checked my order status the next day (they only upload/change their website once daily at 4 pm MT) and everything but the 3-in-1 was In Stock, the 3-in-1 had shifted to Reissue/Searching For. After nearly three weeks of waiting for them to find the 3-in-1, I told them to ship the order without it and cancel the 3-in-1. I can find it for a similar price at a different site that has it in stock for sure. [:D]
